Under the 'Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005' all businesses within the UK must have a written fire risk assessment. In addition, any property that has a communal area must also have a risk assessment carried out.
The local authority fire and rescue service can; restrict the use of the premises, fine the responsible person, prosecute the company or responsible person.
Not having a fire risk assessment in place can also void your property insurance
A regular risk assessment ensures that your business or property is as safe as it possibly can be from fire. This protects all staff and occupants.
Our process starts with a telephone consultation with one of our trained members of staff. Following this one of our competent assessors will visit your premise. They will walk the property highlighting any fire hazards present, what control measures are in place and are required. They will then discuss with the responsible person all aspects of safety. Following this they will compile a full written report within 72 hours.
This can vary due to the premises size and complexity. On average the visit will last 1-3 hours.
It is recommended that a fire risk assessment is reviewed regularly. For this, we believe annually is the best time period.
Additionally, a fire risk assessment needs to be reviewed whenever there is a change of use or when building works are carried out.
Once the assessor returns to the office they will compile a full PAS 79 report including an itemised list of actions required to be carried out.
We carry out fire risk assessments in Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and London. If you need a fire risk assessment in any of these areas please contact us!
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 is the main piece of fire safety legislation in England and Wales. It places a legal duty on the Responsible Person — such as a business owner, landlord, or building manager — to ensure that premises are safe from fire. This includes carrying out a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, implementing necessary safety measures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring people know how to evacuate in an emergency. Failure to comply can result in enforcement action, fines, or prosecution.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
