Fire SAfety Consultancy

Fire Safety Consultancy

Practical, proportionate advice that keeps people safe and your business compliant.
DC2 Fire Solutions provides end-to-end fire safety consultancy across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Greater London. We translate legislation and standards into clear actions that fit your buildings and operations—whether you run a single site or a multi-property portfolio. Our consultancy integrates seamlessly with our Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), so your strategy, procedures, and day-to-day controls all point in the same direction.

What our fire consultancy covers

  • Compliance audits & gap analysis
Plain-English reviews against the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021 and, where relevant, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Prioritised actions you can schedule and budget for.

  • Fire strategy & design reviews
Proportionate advice referencing Approved Document B, BS 9999 (non-residential) and BS 9991 (residential). We review layouts, compartmentation, escape, AOV/smoke control interfaces and management measures—focusing on buildable, auditable solutions.

  • Evacuation strategy
Total, phased or defend-in-place where appropriate. PEEPs/temporary PEEPs, refuge procedures, wayfinding and assembly arrangements tailored to your occupancy and building type.

  • Management systems & documentation
Bespoke fire safety policies, fire action plans, testing schedules, logbooks and contractor controls that align with your FRA and maintenance regimes (BS 5839-1 alarms, BS 5266-1 emergency lighting, BS 5306 extinguishers).

  • Tender/specification support
Independent specs for alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors and extinguishers, plus quote reviews and practical commissioning/hand-over checks—so you buy what you actually need.

  • Portfolio risk profiling
Consistent templates, action trackers and KPI dashboards for multi-site operators; triage high-risk items first, then plan sensible remedials.

  • Special risks & operations
Lithium-ion charging/storage, hot-work control, kitchens, plant/server rooms, mezzanines, warehouses and heritage constraints—kept proportionate to actual risk.

Need a Fire Risk Assessment first? We can complete or update your FRA, then use it as the foundation for your consultancy programme.

Note: We do not undertake external wall (EWS) surveys or PAS 9980 appraisals. Where needed, we’ll signpost a competent specialist and integrate their findings into your plan.

Our process

  1.
  2. Discovery – Short scoping call to understand your buildings, operations and priorities.

  3. Evidence review – Drawings, previous FRA, certificates, maintenance logs and policies.

  4. On-site workshops & surveys – Walk the building with your team to ground recommendations in reality.

  5. Report & roadmap – Prioritised actions with costs/complexity flagged; quick wins vs. planned projects.

  6. Implementation support – Specs, contractor briefings, quote checks and post-work verification.

  7. Monitor & review – Set review dates, update the FRA, and keep records audit-ready.

Why choose DC2 Fire Solutions?

  • Qualified & insured – All assessors hold Level 3 Fire Safety qualifications and are members of the IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers) and IFSM (Institute of Fire Safety Managers).

  • Fire service background – Real-world insight into how fires start, spread and are fought.

  • Proportionate advice – We balance risk, cost and usability—no gold-plating, no box-ticking.

  • Local & responsive – Fast attendance across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and London.

  • End-to-end support – FRA, policies, evacuation/floor plans, training and partner-delivered extinguishers, all aligned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@dc2fire.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

An FRA is a structured assessment of hazards, people at risk and existing measures, ending with a prioritised action plan. Fire consultancy goes further—helping you design strategies, write policies, specify systems, brief contractors and verify that actions are closed. We do both, and we make sure the consultancy work lines up with your Fire Risk Assessment. .

We provide proportionate fire strategy notes and design reviews for many projects and refurbishments. For complex buildings or where detailed engineering is required (e.g., modelling, HRRBs), we’ll coordinate with a specialist fire engineer and keep management measures and the FRA consistent with the final design.

Any available floor plans/as-builts, the latest FRA, alarm/emergency lighting/extinguisher records, occupancy profiles (including vulnerable persons), hot-work/contractor procedures and any unusual processes (e.g., lithium-ion charging, labs). If something is missing, we’ll propose sensible next steps.
